We all go through this. We get emotionally charged for so many things in life. Interviewing and choosing the right person to hire or place to work can be difficult.
During these difficult times, so many are looking for jobs. Some will take anything, work hard and do their best to prove they are a keeper. Others come in and ask/demand for what they think or know they deserve.
How do you deal with external stressors such as seeking a job or hiring an employee? For one, know that whatever it is said, it is not about you…but about what is being discussed and offered. Two people may have two different points of view – but mean the same. It is best to communicate and understand what the needs are and clearly understand what is to be expected of them. Then come to a mutual agreement. If not, then move on and upward to the next.
Clear the slate. Again keep in mind what was said “is not about You”, but to you. We all want to be heard and understood. We must respect each others’ opinions and needs. If you do not agree to what is being said or the terms, and can not find a mutually happy ground, then cut the losses, thank the person and move on. We must honor what we stand for. Take responsibility and make sure not to resent your decision after you have voiced it. You do have a choice!
